EDUCATION EXPERIENCE

 ESOL Teacher Springbrook High School - August 2005 - Present

 - Work as an integrated team member of the ESOL department,responsible for

   preparing differentiated lessons for various English language proficiencies,

   instructing, assessing knowledge

- Uphold my individual administrative obligation including grade reporting,

  administering standardized tests, department meetings, parent-teacher

  conferences, and classroom management.  

- Responsible for ensuring lessons are accessible to each student in multi-level

  classrooms by adapting the cirriculum while aligning the objectives with those

  established by MCPS

- Create material and use technology that provides clear instruction and proper

  scaffolding while encouraging students to think creatively and critically about the

  content.

- Assess students comprehension, promote a fair, encouraging and safe classroom,

  communicate with parents and ensure MCPS standards are addressed.

Specific class taught include: ESOL 4, TOEFL Prep, Developmental Reading (METS),

College Prep (Level 2/3), US History and US History/Culture METS.     

Student Teaching ESOL – Spring Semester 2005, Takoma Park ES and Montgomery Blair HS

- Responsible for creating daily lesson plans using a variety of instructional models

  and appropriate instructional material, aligning MCPS curriculum objectives while

  maintaining positive classroom environment and ensuring that all PRAXIS III

  areas were addressed.

Peace Corps – El Salvador – June 2002 - July 2004

- Developed and Organized Art/Creative Problem Solving Youth Leadership 

  Workshop

- Implemented workshops, arranged for guest speakers adn developed books with

  orginally created leasson plans in Spanish and English

- Coordinated and Presented English Classes for Educators

- Collaborated with representative of the Ministry of Education to initiate and teach

  English classes for local educators

- Created Lessons and Co-taught English Classes for Kindergarten - Cooperative

  with local teachers to design an English lessons and age-appropriate instructional

  materail to present basic English vocabulary to first time learners

- Designed and Implemented Environmental Education classes for students 6-18

  years-old

- Developed a series of classes based on a community need to raise recycling

  efforts.
